6/9/17:  Revised to emphasize Marketing and Communications' Role in speaking to the media on behalf of the University, to define "social media," and to better explain who qualifies as a "University Expert" who is encouraged to speak with the media in areas of their specific expertise.

2/18/13:  Revised to remove language in the definitions section referencing hardcopy publiciation of A Faculty Experts Guide.  In addition, a link to the Media Relations website also was inserted in the section entitled Guidelines for Commenting to the Media.
